The Gen X identity is that they don't care about anything, so nobody cares about them. They're all just a bunch of isolated people doing their own thing, not having any impact. They're the only generation that actually got what they wanted. They wanted to be left alone to witness the destruction of society from the privacy of their own living room while they sit on their thumb and do nothing about anything.

They're all like Buddhists who believe the ultimate paradise is to be totally obliviated and never think or feel anything ever again.

If you wish for nothing, you'll never be disappointed.

And yet, they saved us all. Gen X was where the resurgence kindled.

We all owe our futures to the forgotten generation, the progenitors of modernity.

Gen X will be remembered as the generation that saved us all, conquered fear and was competent and focused when the rest of us were apathetic and forgetful.

We all owe them our lives.
