I've never eaten one and only had a taste of from a beer where they were used as an adjunct. I found a local nature preserve where trees are everywhere and I've been making note of where the fruit is. The amount of trees tells me that the fruit rarely gets harvested so I hope to at least get a few. If I can get a substantial amount then I'll make a paw paw honey mead.

Those that aren't familiar with, the fruit is supposedly similar to a banana.

I have paw paw trees in the backyard. Need to make sure you plant both male and female ones.

Do you have much fruit this year?

I've heard that about needing both sexes. Is there a good way to tell the difference between?

I haven't seen anything on them yet, it takes each one 5 years to mature. Might see something next year.
