Came for the kudzu. They failed to mention that environmentalists promoted it as good ground cover for the wasteland that was left in the wake of the Copper Basin copper mine. The mine thoroughly poisoned the landscape. You can see old pictures of the desert the area was in this article (appalachianhistory.net).

TL;DR - The Ducktown tristate area is basically ground zero for that weed, and the only people who seem to remember that disaster are the old residents in the area.

Here's one you won't believe, and it's not on their list: The iconic tumbleweed is really Siberian Thistle.
