What I want to know is why is there a purple street light on every block?

The simple answer is: they installed cheap, shitty LED street lamps.

The expanded answer: White LED street lamps are actually blue/violet LEDs that excite a yellow phosphor to make "White" light. Yellow and blue are opposite each other on the color wheel. Red and green light combined produce yellow, hence yellow is composed principally pf red and green light. White light can be approximated by combining red, green and blue light. So, if yellow light is composed of red and green light, adding blue makes an approximate White light. It's close but not perfect. That yellow phosphor coating is not integrated into the LED. It is simply "painted" on to cover the blue/violet LED chip(s). If the LEDs are cheap, shitty or otherwise not made to quality specification with good materials, the heat from the high intensity LEDs, the weather and outdoor exposure causes the phosphor to fall off thereby exposing the blue/violet LED. This is why they turn purple. They are literally falling apart when they turn that way. They are shit quality street lamps.

No. It's not shitty cheap lamps. They are spread strategically one per block

Batches are a thing and like the VAX the companies know that they have bad batches so they intentionally mix up a bunch of lamps into other lot numbers to make their failure rate look lower.

Have a full batch of fucked lamps? Screw scraping them and losing $$$. Be a jew and take that batch and sprinkle it into 10 "good" batches. Now you just sold all of the "bad" lamps and no one is going to do fuck all because government would only care if they got a whole batch of "bad" lamps all at once. Not if they have one or two bad lamps in a batch.

Yep. Just like what they do with a Vax. They used to ship them all in a single batch but it would revealed a long while ago they started sprinkling things into other batches to make it look safer and more "effective". Nope, it's still probably going to kill you.

The city is not going to waste money making sure they are spaced out one per block? When they cant even afford to mow the grass on the medians

I believe there are gunshot sensors in them, or something more nefarious
