Do you do other composting? I have an indoor hydro system and I grow outdoors when season permits. I am soooo tired of tossing out useful vegie mass that could go into a rotating bin. I look forward to the day I have chickens and can just toss it in with their other feed.

I just can't decide on what to get. I see a lot of different options online but it needs to be easy enough to turn so my wife can do it and I would only be putting uncooked vegie waste into it.

Can't decide what chickens to get? Or...?

Don't yet have space for chickens. Thinking about one of those standing rotating compost bins for now. When we have space for chickens I can't wait to figure out which breed/food/etc I've hatched chicks but only to help someone else that had chickens. I've also helped care for them. I want space where we can have our own.

How many acres are you on?

I'm still learning composting and experimenting with stuff, so I can't confidently give you much advice on the subject. I can tell you chickens absolutely do love to make eggs out of most kitchen scraps. I try not to feed them leftover chicken if I can help it. Just on principle.

They will happily eat their own eggs if one cracks when you are gathering them. A friend of mine would toss any eggs that had a compromised shell into the coop and they would go nuts over it. I get it, its a protein bomb and full of calcium since they would peck at/eat the egg shells too.
