They aren't able to use cadaver dogs, because there's no cadavers to be found, so far. If there's no bodies, or signs of bodies, it is very likely there's no phones to attempt to recover data from.

So you're saying that it is possible to cremate hundreds of bodies to complete ash in a short period of time? That could have been useful to have 80 years ago. Sounds like we just needed to build some houses so we could bake 6 gorrillion cookies in no time flat.
