I had a cat of such quality. As a ragdoll, she kinda loved everyone, but she would come to me when called. All the great parts of a cat, and she had some of the qualities of a dog too. Sure, be worry about becoming too attached, but don't devalue the relationship by pulling away, to avoid future pain. Accept the pain as the bill for the love and companionship. It'll hurt even more, in the long term to be alone, without even the memory of a worthwhile companion
