Darken the room you are in, and close your eyes for 30 seconds or so, and then turn on a colored light and stare directly at it for a second or two. Now close your eyes again, and you will see an afterimage that is the exact opposite color to the light you were looking at.

This image is taking advantage of the fact that your retinas work on a photochemical basis, and that if you show a primary color interspersed with black you will get a tinge of the opposing primary color in the resulting image. If you show any color interspersed with black, it will show a tinge of the opposing color balance.
