Infofag here. It's just Katahdin, no mountain beforehand. Katahdin means Great mountain. So when you say Mt Katahdin, you actually saying mount Great mountain. The more you know.

Not really. It looks like northern new england. I've riden across texas in ohio and even in tennessee I've thought that I was living with flat landers. Our family home is on the base of a mountain with another mountain behind that one then another one with one road that you cross in that 20 miles. Yeah that is new england looking to me.
Also I've seen it not knowing it's name decades ago from quite a distance away in the summer, it's majestic looking just rising so strongly.
