My guess is for anti-coagulation medication but for all I know this is how they make energy drinks. Anybody here on poal with a bigger brain than I know why they are doing this? I tried to put this in askpoal but it won’t let me so im throwing it in pics. Feel free to move this to which ever sub you feel appropriate.

Horseshoe crab blood. Chiefly to make sure medicine and vaccines are sterile. The immune cells of the blood react to bacteria and germs in a unique way. The crabs are usually not harmed by this when done correctly. No more than if you donate a pint at a clinic.
