I remember when I was a kid and watching the coal barges going down the river and thinking, "That would actually be an amazing platform for a house." Hell, you'd practically have enough square footage on top to add some topsoil and farm on the damn thing. Or get two. Convert one for living and work space, tie up alongside, cover the top of the second one with dirt and farm it.
