Just wanted to share that other sub which is more specific to these pics from the past.
Looks like about 1912. The automobile took over the streets right around 1910. Before that, all horse-drawn carts, carriages and electric trollies.

Took better pictures than my phone does. It's incredible how clean and clear the pictures were.
This is from a site called Shorpy. You should check out what they're able to do with old photos. There's 10s of thousands of them. You can zoom in and see the expression on people's faces in apartment windows in 1899. It's a pretty neat site.
