there might be some slight psychological damage from it. my brother told me of the time when he was about 4 or 5 my dad grabbed him by the back of his shirt and hung him over the railing about 3 or 4 stories up on a huge ferry crossing some channel in europe. bro said how fucked up it was. bro harbored distrust for the old man. bro had scars.

bro had bro, bro

for a time we kids had each other, but that's all gone now. the story is long and tragic, but the peace of mind is good.

My dad did that to me, except held me upside down by the ankles on the 11th (roof) floor of my grandparent's apartment building. I was 7 or 8.

No idea wtf came over him, but he never did anything crazy like that before or since. I got over it pretty quick.

apparently there were other things dad did that were kinda' brutal. my other brother asked my dad to teach him to swim. we were at the beach. he walks my brother onto the pier then pushes him off. bro said he learned the dog paddle real quick. treatments like that i think kinda' fucked them up in the head. by the time i arrived, dad had mellowed some.

Yeah man, repeatedly doing things like that can permanently break a child's trust. Your comment just brought back a memory I hadn't thought about in a very, very long time. If anyone helped fucked me in the head, it was my sociopath mother, her gaslighting, and physical abuse. It was hard learning how to be my own man.

My parents did that to me. It was terrifying and I remember it to this day. Didn't help me learn to swim at all either.
