The original Muds (the Saracens) were primitive desert nomads without much infrastructure, let alone marvels. They fought like madmen because Mohammed promised them a brothel-like paradise and many sex slaves in case of winning. In this way they took over highly advanced civilizations like Persia, Byzantine and Spain that they leeched for centuries.
Most of the ancient structures that people recognize as Arabic, were constructed by the Christians of Byzantine. Arabs often tried imitating them but did such a poor job that most of them collapsed with the past of time.
