Dang, all these years filling up my red lawnmower tanks and never considered a Rubbermaid to stop spills. Just drove home real cautiously. In the picture it looks 1/3 filled. Maybe just a shadow. Some nozzles won't work if not inserted in a sealed container. The pump pulls a vacuum to suck back vapors.
That's not how it works. Just pull the collar back to get it to pump.
What does the collar do? My experience is that if the seal is broken between nozzle and gas tank then it soon shuts off. I read years ago that vapors are vacuumed back in attempt to reduce "polution".
You're right about the vapors. But it's just a switch that the collar engages. Pull back the collar and you can spray it in the air.
Eff those commie gas pumps that require a vacuum seal.
I always use to wrap the can in a trash bag.
