If you provide a non-pic8 link, poal will submit to pic8 and since that host url already exists in the db, it will serve you the same image.

hmmmm but why would it serve the same image if the catbox version is different than the jssocial one? Wouldn't poal submit 2 different images since they're from 2 different sources?

You are confused on how poal works then.
Poal doesn't decide what host to serve. It only provides the exact same link you typed/pasted in the url field in the submit page.
