Our cat passed yesterday after what was a very long and painful night for all of us. Today is the first day without her and we miss her very much. We are comforted knowing that she had a good life and is now at peace.

She is pictured here sleeping on my wife's legs as she would most mornings. At night she would sleep on mine as I watched podcasts or read.

We had a wonderful 16 years together. I am very grateful for that.

Edit: I will try to answer all of your comments personally but know that if I don't I do appreciate them and things are very raw for me right now.

PS.This has been very helpful for me, thank you all.

My heart goes out to you! We lost ours recently too.

Just remember, the sorrow you're feeling now is a reflection of your complete capability of love, and that is a beautiful thing!

Please accept my condolences. Yes, and I am richer for it. Though I feel very poor atm.

I’m not a cat guy but I hope You and Your family enjoyed your time with her.

Thank you. Rest assured we did.

16 years is a good long run, but it doesn't make it easier. I'm sorry for your loss.

True. I have so many good memories though and for that I am truly blessed. Thank you.

Sad to hear that hurts just to hear this

Rest assured it is bitter sweet. Thanks.

Its worse if you dont out-live them. Then you dont know what will happen to them. But still they take a part of you with them when they go, dont they?

Yes. She took the worst and made it better. Thank you for helping me see that.

Unfortunately all furry friends do not last long enough

My condolences to you and your wife. I will be in the same boat soon with my 15 yr old buddy. Look after yourselves!

Sucks, man, I have had my orange tabby 10 years, can't bear the thought of losing her, but I will. We were all born to die.

Yeah, it's a bitter sweet world we live in. Thanks.

Accept my condolences, man. I’m glad your family had 16 years together. Sheba looks like mine and I dread that last day.

Thank you, I am too. I hope you have many more good years with yours.

Sorry to hear that, man. I've had to put two down in the last couple of years. It's hard to order the death of a loved one, even if they're just a furry critter.

Sorry to hear that. It is truly an agonizing decision to make and tough to accept. My condolences and thanks for your kind words.

So sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences to you guys. It's so hard saying goodbye to the four legged family members. Take comfort in knowing you loved her, and she knew she was loved, right to the very end. Be at peace, dear Sheba.

Thank you for your kind words. We had the most beautiful last moments with her and will cherish them always.

After a night of violent seizures and pitiful anguish her last moments were peaceful and serine. I took her to some of her favorite spots in the garden. It was a chilly but beautiful morning. We stood next to a tree together and a bird fluttered by us. I placed her on the ground and she sniffed around a bit and then relieved herself. I knew that she needed to and was too proud to soil herself. Then we came inside and

She looks like my Tigger who lived a good 15 years! She can play with my Tigger in heaven while they wait for us to get there!

She is in a good place and I believe she will still rub up against you again via another animal :)

Thank you. That's a wonderful thought.

This is the first day without her yet I see her everywhere I look.

I still see my old lady occasionally out the corner of my eye... so does the rest of my family! We are certain she is still there, coming to check on us every now and then. <3 I'm certain Sheba will do the same. The bond we share with them is eternal.

She must have meant a great deal to you. Thank you for sharing that.
