Seen this kind of thing and similar several times. Its tragic. The more recent time ive seen similar was not too far from me at a store. Every wall and the whole ceiling was part of one giant unique and detailed painting. It was lovely. It looked like the interior of a midieval castle with arches, columns, and it had angels flying about the castle. If I remember right through the arches you could see the verdant world. It was all given a white wash.
