A lot of posts like this are at least modified in photoshop; things like enhancing contrast or changing gamma. The problem with that is part of the appeal to this sort of thing is the belief that you could look at the object with your own two eyes and see the same thing. Knowing half of it came from the magic of image manipulation takes that away. After all what's the appeal of a fake photograph over an arbitrary painting?
