I think philosophy is logic, like math.
Philosophy must be done on a foundation of scientific knowledge, when divorced from this foundation, it is then that we get all the weird and bad philosophical ideas.
A psychologist must work off the knowledge of a psychiatrist, or they are aboit as good as new age gurus and life coaches.

Philosophy may say that insanity is a human condition, Psychiatry can change the human condition to a point where it is no longer relevant. You can be medicated or operated upon to remove any opposing rationale
