I'd have to dig to verify/disprove the assertions made before I believed everything implied in that video. I'm no expert on Carlos Slim but I'm not aware of Slim being directly involved with the drug cartels - though being a gazzilionaire owning all kinds of businesses in Mexico and holdings abroad, I'd guess he does have to negotiate with cartel owned businesses, the corruption in Mexico and whatever the US wants. At his level one has many nefarious business acquaintances. Slim funding the movie doesn't immediately disqualify it in my mind.
I did a quick search for 2nd sources, all I found was this .
OK, let's assume he's not directly involved with the drug cartels.
Drug cartels aren't just about drugs, but also weapons and human trafficking, exactly what that movie is about.
Do you think he would not become their enemy and a target by funding a movie that exposes them?

He would become an immediate target, like Trump, Musk, etc. But he is virtually untouchable.
OK, let's now assume he's directly involved with the drug cartels.
What's the point in funding such movie that would bring attention to them?
