Ok I’m gonna step in here. Fascism is actually an economic model. Not that long ago, the dictionary correctly defined it, but of course they’ve since changed the definition to suit their agenda, like they do with everything. People try to associate certain authoritarian policies or moral/social viewpoints with either communism or fascism (depending where they are on the left/right spectrum), but authoritarianism doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with fascism. I could make the argument that communism also doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with authoritarianism, either…at least academically speaking..but the problem with that argument is that to enforce communism *requires* authoritarianism since no one in their right mind actually wants to live under it once they get a real taste of what it’s really like. Plus, having all of your shit stolen from you at gun point is authoritarian in of itself. There’s certainly no historic example of communism ever being implemented without authoritarianism. But fascism? Hell, we have that right now in this country already. We’ve had it for a long fucking time, actually. Forgive me if I don’t have the exact definition, but I remember it being something along the lines of government colluding with the private sector in a particular type of way.. kinda like the government couldn’t force me to take a vaccine constitutionally (even though they tried), but then they can certainly depend on the private sector to force me to do so..or the government can’t just spy on my communications without a warrant, but then they can work with twitter and Facebook to achieve the same end.
