As much as many liberals may wish to mainstream child pornography and sex with children, it's still one of the "third rails" of the Internet. No one can talk about it in any way other than complete and utter condemnation. It's like the so-called "Holocaust" in this regard. Or like the word "nigger" which (as irrational as it may be) you cannot say on any major Internet site -- *in any context* -- without getting punished for it. Those who have some kind of intelligent comment to make on "third rail" topics must preface that comment with a paragraph of apologies, explanations for their words, rationalizations and justifications ... and even then they get burned for daring to voice an opinion other than, "Oh, it's really, really baaad!" What is the consequence? It is impossible to hold intelligent public discussions on "third rail" issues, which appears to be what those controlling the Internet want.
