Well he raised the daughter so this is kinda an indictment on himself too

It's the cycle of abuse. What did he expect?

But he did not expect the sexual abuse. Hence the rage.

Based off of his demeanor it seems like he did raise her properly and she caved into a pedophile rapist. That grandpa seemed tough and old school, disappointed to find out his daughter was enabling this all and being quiet.
