As the person above said, applying our modern morality to stories set in the fucking 17th century is just silly. Times change, morality changes. Girls today are different than they were 300 years ago in a number of ways. We also have a better understanding of sexuality and the damage that promiscuity at a young age can cause. Hell, I think even our ancestors who engaged in these marriages knew- that's why they valued virginity and purity. They observed that women who whored around tended to be unstable wrecks that nobody wanted to deal with. They observed that the well-mannered young ladies who married at 14, as a virgin, tended to grow into the role of mother far better than a whore would. Of course, the life expectancy back then was a good deal lower than today. Back then, they were in a rush to reproduce, because most people don't make it out of their fucking 40s-50s unless they are rich.... and even they died in droves from shit that is absolutely trivial to us today. Today, there is no need for there to be a rush to impregnate a girl at 14 years old- that's not even when she's best suited for bearing a child! Early 20s is the time in current year, it seems. Interestingly, non-pedos tend to find women in that age range the most attractive- any younger and they are basically children.
