20 odd years ago I was hired by a defense contractor for an overseas assignment. I had to show up at a local branch while they re-instated and upgraded my security clearance, took 4 months, bored as hell. This local office did software development and software maintenance of the existing system. The office computers were tied into the DoD secure network. One of the female accounting clerks complained several times of walking past her cubicle neighbor and seeing child pornography on his computer screen. Nothing was done. Another programmer had a side business and ran his personal companies website from the DoD server. He got caught and reprimanded. But, he thought he was clever and hacked to server to cover up his continuing personal use. Got caught again, and a notice was sent to every one in the building that the following week some alphabet agency was coming to audit all the computers. The agents showed up and took out 5 guys in handcuffs for kiddie porn on the there hard drives and about 10 people were fired on the spot for other crimes of misuse of the computer network. These were supposed to be 'brilliant' people writing complex programs, I guess they missed the memo.
