If they buy it themselves then you have no parental rights to regulate the use. That would be bad parenting.

Kids don't need phones. They need parents and a social life outside of the goynet.

Most kids don't start working until they are 17 now anyway. Apparently working before 15 is child abuse now.

I agree. What I said was that you can't tell a teenager to work to buy something for themselves and then turn around and act like you have a right to take it easy from them. If you are going to make them do adult things with responsibility you don't get to take them away punishing them as if they were a child.

As long as they are 18 and living on their own they can do whatever they want with their own phone.

If they are 17 and living under my roof supported by me and expecting me to provide a phone.

Want vs need.

You need food, clothing and shelter. But you want a phone.

One will be provided the other will not.

No. Fuck that, you have parental rights because you're the parent.

So you make your teenage but stuff with their own money and then you think you have the right to take those things away from them? That is how a shitty person parents.

That's literally not what was proposed, but yes. If my 14 year old were to buy something, then they did some seriously retarded shit around the house they would be prevented from using the thing they put effort into saving for. That's how punishment works.

You sound like a cuck or a woman who doesn't know how to raise children. They'll always walk all over you because you have no capability to make them learn.

hurrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can just ground them!!!!!!!

Yes. Then while they're in their room they have their phone, with wifi or data and literally nothing changes, they've learned nothing. You have to take away THEIR toys too. Also I fail to see the difference of something they bought or something that was given to them as a gift at a birthday or Christmas. It's theirs, period.

If they buy it themselves then you have no parental rights to regulate the use. That would be bad parenting.

Reading again while I'm not at the gym and holy F dude. You're a redditor plain and simple.
