I started listening to them when their first album, Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, came out. Ar first it was curiosity at a very different sound than anything else at the time. As they started progressing their sound, it just got so much more interesting. By the time Dark Side came out, I saw them do that tour and was probably one of the best concerts I remember.
But as Waters pretty much took over and started his indepth social agenda with Animals I lost a little interest, but Gilmour's artistry has always been something that has keep me interested. I hold him in the same respect I have for SRV and their ability to express so much emotion through their playing.
interesting, i would say animals is my favorite. but you have to listen start to finish with that one
They have always been reticent to release their music as singles, knowing their music is presented as a suite and a portrayal of an overall theme and statement. Of course the record companies care more for the business and money so they have had to.
If you haven't seen the Remember That Night DVD, it is really good. They do a lot of songs from throughout the history of PF. Gilmour even has Bowie doing Arnold Lane. It was also the last concert Richard Wright played, RIP.
