"During the duel scene - I played all of the guitars except for the slide, that was done by Ry Cooder. So when you see me dueling Ralph [Macchio, who played the role of Eugene Martone], that's actually me.
"Ralph doesn't play the guitar, and it's so funny, all people throughout the years coming up to me going, 'He beat you!' [Laughs]
"I taught him how to fake it. Actually, Arlen [Roth, renowned guitar teacher] and myself worked with Ralph. Arlen worked with Ralph for the whole movie, I just worked with him on that.
"Arlen was a very key figure in a lot of that behind-the-scene guitar stuff in that movie. So that's the real story."
