You add a giant ice cube that melts very slowly, and the gradual dilution brings out subtle flavors. You're a savage if you're drinking fine whiskey without doing it.
Mix with rc cola
True cola connoisseur here
Depends on the scotch, agreed on MacAllen but I do love a few cubes with Drambui and Glen Fidich mixed 50/50. Then again I do shots of Glenmarngie and mix Crown Royal with coke.
I'm half a savage.
How uncouth. What a provincial
How much water would you suggest adding? Or is your abhorrence related to the change in temperature?
The change in temperature.
Adding water is personal preference. I’ve drank with Scottish people who dump water in, convinced that if there was any burn whatsoever, the alcohol content was too high. Who am I to tell a scot that he doesn’t know how to drink scotch... that’s not to say we didn’t debate about it, though, but it was never a matter of right and wrong.
Personally I add some when it seems necessary, which is rare. I understand the disruption of the o-h bonds of the long hydrocarbon chains, ultimately releasing previously trapped aromatics.... but making it cold.... I don’t get that.
Hey do you pronounce the H in abhorrence or no? Asking for a friend.
I do
Yes, you do. Unrelated note, always annoyed me you don't pronounce epitome and epitaph the same way. Grrrrr.
