I really like live performances as they show the musicianship without studio processing. Sure, recording in a studio shows what an artist(s) can accomplish using the studio as another "instrument" and that's important too. One of the main reasons the Beatles quit doing live shows so quickly was they were moving into creations that simply couldn't be done live. I've seen Pink Floyd live but even though it was great, much of their material is so nuanced it had to be done in the studio. But then you take someone like the Stones or The Who and they rock just as hard live, or maybe even better, than on record.
TOOL was probably the most true to their recordings band I ever saw, AC/DC came close though.
Don't know anything about Tool, but I can imagine AC/DC would sound like you expect live. Aerosmith puts on a great show and sound great.
Oh you need to be introduced to TOOL. I know its prob not up your alley but great musicians. Sometimes they try to be to perfect so it takes forever to drop.
