Alcohol was used by alchemists to ground the soul as they believed it was able to disconnect our third eye from connecting with god. It was later engineered to be addictive and poisonous to slow brain development and rot the mind. A rotting mind makes for more obedient slaves.

How many great men have been lain low via alcohol's influence? But paradoxically, greatness is often paired with alcoholism (or other addiction)- you'd think a really smart person would know better than to drink alcohol, ever, simply for the fleeting feeling of a buzz. But you have Alexander the Great conquering most of the fucking civilized world when he was in his late teens-early 20s... all with a crippling alcohol addiction. There are many similar figures throughout history, and I always wonder what they would've been like without the booze? Would their genius not manifest? Or is seeking out chemical relief from genius a typical behavior? Being smart is fucking miserable, let me tell you.
