I wish I knew then what I know now. Namely, if you want to buy a home with a pool and there are trees in the yard, consider the direction of the prevailing winds. I think the best circumstance would be the winds come from over the house, across the pool, and blow all the tree debris away from the pool. Not knowing that then, I now must net out a shit ton of leaves in the fall. In the spring it's pollen and everything else that falls out of a tree that kicks in the algae growth as the weather starts to warm. And all year it's dirt and dust in general blown in from the yard. It's basically a year round pain in the ass, regardless of how nice it is when it's stupid hot outside. If you've got the cash to spend on a pool maintenance guy, you'd likely still save money on the chemicals it takes to maintain a pool bombarded by tree debris.
