People say that all the time. "Yeah and watcha gonna do about it?"

My answer is usually the same. "In practice, nothing."

First, I'm not a soldier, and neither are most other people, that goes double for anyone who wants to fight government, be it the u.s. government or the russian government.

Second, really, some peoples responses are "go start a militia!"

And they have no conception of what that means. Your average militia would be straight-up wiped out even by a small marine recon team.

You don't have to be a soldier to understand war is brutal.

And unless you're deluded, anyone can grasp that even trained civilians aren't gonna have much of a chance against a profesional army, maternity-suit-airforce not withstanding.

It's not about guns or equipment. It's about combat-capable vehicles and aircraft with ordinances that can do zone denial, to speak nothing of discipline and organization and experience. Even the ukrainians understood this (lol) which is why they begged for javelins and manpads. And on the topic of insurgency, a world away in afghanistan, no one should fool themselves on this: they lost gargantuan amounts of guys on the ground. Basically we only lost because we ran out of bullets (and dollars) to shoot at all the corpses of their guys and civilians. Hence the timeless turn of phrase: war is hell .

If thats anyones idea of winning, they should reevaluate just about every single time they feel like saying "yes but the taliban beat the soviets and the u.s. with AKs."

But like all 'extremists' according to the DHS, it must be understood that apparently, I too, imagine the glorious day that I may fight for freedom in the meat grinder of revolution and wars of independance "for democracy of course!":

I guess thats why they call us Americans burgers: Because thats what you are when you get boxed in by bombers like a hapless iranian republican guard or a drunk who stumbled into rush hour traffic, before being shredded like ground beef by daisy cutters dropped on your soft head from six thousand feet.

And the outcome doesn't change no matter what your lasts words are, be they "allu akbar!", "jesus christ!", or "остання атака легкої бригади, вперед хоробрий воїни демократії!"

You can tell their overall understanding of SIGINT is garbage when they're posting videos of their patrols on tiktok.

It's so bad I'm half tempted to say this is the u.s. intelligence apparatus disposing of the militant DOMESTIC component of their useful idiots here in america.

They didn't realize most of these people have no money. Most of them are foolish enough to actually believe they aren't cowards (until they experience real live combat), but being foolish, and being brave are rarely mutually exclusive. They're brave, stupid, and what the CIA didn't count on, was broke.

If I were running the CIA I'd have five billion sock puppets funding gofunmes to travel to ukraine. Just automated bot accounts pumping money into the account of anyone fundraising to go fight in ukraine.

Dispose of your most destabilizing and stupid elements, and have the russians do mop up, and bleed your enemies in attrition warfare, all at once.

Also why the fuck isn't the CIA recruiting homeless american vets? These guys are dying of heroin overdoes, have military experience, and dying of hopelessness (when it isn't the fent killing them). You want the propaganda of "a just war", nothing motivates people more than dead vets. The "dead civilians! think of the dead children!" line doesn't work anymore anyway, that card is played out. and whoever hasn't realized that this isn't working is asleep at the wheel, not doing the work they're paid to do, and needs to be reassigned or fired, they're useless. Homeless vets though? Theres your justification for war. Nothing will get the vet community behind the ukrainian conflict, let alone fire up the DoD, like dead vets. What a sad fucking parable of america that is. "We wont help you, but heres a shitty ak, a javelin, and a manpad, now you have a purpose again."

These guys need a war, the CIA should give them what they are asking for.

I would expect nothing lower of the CIA except they didn't bother with this angle, which tells me whoever is making tactical and strategic decisions is a fuck up thats half-assing their job. This angle should have been obvious.

Homeless veterans enter the ukraine conflict in large numbers, you have your military experience, you have your martyrs, you have your excuse for war, your sympathetic public, all wrapped into one.

I'm disgusted that I had to do their thinking for them, and more disgusted with the idea.

Which means it will probably work, unfortunately.
