They're idea people, educated in what is right and what is wrong. In their minds you and I simply do not know how to take care of ourselves, and much less society. They believe that they are able to make the decisions that common folk aren't capable of making. They do not respect you and they find you beneath them. In their minds they are not hypocrites, because if you were as smart as they were you'd also be able to live your life as you wish.
