The postcard one got me. Though I've purchased many postcards in my past, I have never actually sent one. I always just kind of never got around to it or just kept them as souvenirs.
What the hell man? Am I considered "old". That is kind of fucked up.
Then again, I did a lot of this when I was way younger than normal so there is that.
Surprise, I might not be as old as you think I am... Maybe. Possibly. Ill never tell and you will never figure it out.
I swear, one day I need to host some sort of old-timers hangout. Ill smoke a bunch of meat and ship it around the country then we can get on the com's and bitch about everything together. That sounds like a fun idea. Way cooler than those faggot "reddit meetup" type things.
Zero for me, too.
I was loading data from a cassette tape, I should be -1.
Shit, I had an Atari 2600, a Commodore Vic 20 and a 2600 even before my Apple IIe with a tape drive.
Man, I had an original pong machine too. It was like 5th hand at that point but it still worked ;)
Loaded data to my TI-99/4a… or tried to. The tape deck never quite worked right.
The deck had a counter on it, so you'd know how to line it up right. It worked okay for me. Took long AF though.
It's amazing to think that floppies and CDs have disappeared, but tape drives are still VERY widely used
I still use cd's/dvd's sometimes to work on old hardware and still have a burner setup. It's not common but when I need it, it works just fine. I think I bought the drive like 14 years ago.
0 here too. If they wanted an extra credit point, listened to music from an 8 track. I would have at least gotten that point
I drove a Chevy Caprice that had a 8 track player. Pick up some tunes at goodwill.
My house had 8 track tapes in boxes in the garage, and had 2 broken players, but none ever saw the light of day. It wasn't till way later I found out what those weird big red cartridges were
0 Points here too. I remember when it was 3½¢ for a stamp to send first class mail.
Ought to add S&H Green Stamps to that list.
Ever collect blue chip stamps on those cards from the drug store?
I don't remember seeing blue chip stamps up here in Maine. We had S&H Green stamps and another variety of stamps that were gold or yellowish colored IIRC. Save them up, stick them in books, trade the books in for small appliances and other stuff.
15? I'm not that old.
I win! I got them all right!
You can still do some of those things. Hey, the last Blockbuster is still around if you take the trip to get there.
I got like 6.. though technically I think it should be less.
I know I've played around with a rotary phone, but I don't think I ever dialed anyone and talked. Walkman.. does a portable cassette/CD player count? I've definitely looked at a regional paper map, but actually used it to get somewhere? No. Never needed to send a postcard..
I know I've played around with a rotary phone, but I don't think I ever dialed anyone and talked.
I remember my parents paying a small extra fee to be able to continue to use their rotary phone. They had a really cool wall mounted one. Then eventually the phone carrier didn't support it at all.
Zero points if you accept another VHS video rental name. No Blockbuster in Eastern Europe.
The act of the rental is more important than the store imo. We used to be able to get them at libraries too.
Ah yes, library book rentals. The good ol’days.
1, never paid with a check. Also never rented a VHS specifically from Blockbuster, but I think it's meant for VHS rental in general.
Man I wish I never had to write another check in my fucking life. The stupid things are expensive as hell, and stupidly insecure yet there's still so many places that ass rape you with fees if so anything other than send them a check.
0 and Trip Ticks from AAA were the best maps. A little book of highway routes with detail maps through the city on both ends. Super nice and were part of the membership service. Just go ask for one and they made it for you.
