What imaginary collective? I have seen heroine addicts and smokers do the same...hell I did as a smoker almost about to die...it's called addiction and you either decided not to be addicted or not. You may fail a few times, but that just means you hadn't decided to quit yet.

I dunno, but I have seen people be brought out of addiction genetics be damned just by having a friend that was strong enough to say "fuck this shit...you are not doing this again." Numbers did that for me.

I tell you what, IRL you're used to people saying nothing when you throw that sort of mytho, mostly because they gave up on noticing your play pretend, but just because they say nothing doesn't mean you got a pass, they just patiently listen to you taking them for fools, thinking it works...
