That sounds very expensive to target something that is completely worthless, unless said missile (or any other munition) is nearing the end of its shelf life and needed to be expended.

I see it as a investment for the future probably saving trillions of dollars and opening up territory for proper preservation and development.

Hell. We could just require spaceX sats to be "strategically de orbited". It's going to fall down anyway. May as well make it count for something.
