I saw the Lotus Eaters [do a segment on it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN5PfzD5ehI) It seems to work on temporal landmarks (harvests, rainy seasons, etc.) rather than clocks and calendars. They concluded that it was the reason most African cultures have trouble with the concept of maintenance.
