A quick look claims it is about usd $700 000 (not invested but purchasing power), however i imagine in 1973 it could buy a lot more back then, than the equivalent of 700 000 today.
a brand new car in 1973 was about 3800 for a ford ltd, a bmw (2002) $4500. Average house price was $32 000
I guess the choice of a 10% share or money in a shoe/ clothing company might be a bit risky no matter what the year. so many companies go bankrupt.
