It is what keeps us using USD instead of other whatever the market discovers to be the best currency. You end up owing a lot of money in USD to the government and it would be a pain to convert to their units just to pay taxes. Everyone else is more flexible. Why do Canadians use CND and we use USD? Because they owe taxes in those respectively and the government expect accounting information expressed in those units.
