The oil price rise was probably just mostly speculators or resellers but then the US refineries can buy from the domestic producers instead to keep the prices more stable. I think the government will watch if they pull a huge price rise on domestic for no reason or they start selling off to foreign nations for massive profit and raise the price of oil domestically. Hell a bar on oil exports till SA gets their refinery back up would be a huge win.
