PA13-3 of Connecticut and PA13-220 has all these things listed.
Having a 30 rd mag , for a first offense , is an infraction. Its like a 90 dollar fine.
Having a AR kit ? That does not equal that he was going to make an assault weapon. You can use these kits to make bolt action ARs too, they are not assault weapons.
Body armor? That's fine to own in CT.
If the kid was smart enough to keep his mouth shut, I don't see the state winning this case except for the infraction of having >30rd mags. But it looks like he did talk and so is his father .. not smart.
And for all we know, he intended to re-sell the AR kit. Nothing wrong in CT with that either.
EDIT ... if you had 30 rd mags prior to the law then its an infraction having them after the law was activated ; if you have them after the law went into effect then its a felony. So from a 90 dollar fine to >1 yr prison time. So if in that wacko commie state don't tell them when you got your 30 rd mags....
