I would think if you were going to hang yourself, you would first remove any neck brace.

So why does the photo show the dead Jeffy with one on?

Is is routine to put a neck brace on in such circumstances ?

The guy's hanging there, clearly dead. Why put in an IV, neck brace, etc. Maybe routine. Anyone know?

I saw in another thread that the neck brace would have originally been plastic. If this is routine that I think is shows this was removed (by Epstein or his killer(s))

The neck brace (cervical collar) would have been put on by the paramedics in case of cervical spine trauma, depending on how he was found. It's used to limit motion so any injury isn't exacerbated causing paralysis/death. The collar in the picture is plastic, the green parts in the picture are the plastic, the white part you see in the picture is the strap used to tighten it.

They most likely did not know how long he had been unresponsive so if there's a chance he could be revived they're going to perform life saving measures and transport him to a hospital. Unresponsive at the scene isn't clearly dead, you can be saved after a hanging, depending on the situation. They're performing CPR on him in the picture, the blue bag is forcing air into his lungs and the paramedic with his back to the camera is performing chest compressions. No pulse isn't dead, if they keep your blood oxygenated and circulating there's still a chance.

You are correct. I was an ambulance paramedic for 10 years and have attempted resuscitations hundreds of times, some times with a positive outcome (sadly the statitics are low in most circumstances). Once cpr is initiated it must be continued until a doctor pronounces death. Another factor in this is an obviously deceased person, hence no attempts initiated, are not transported by EMS, it is up to the coroner to arrange removal (at least in my state). Of course a high visibility case may have affected the decision to appear to attempt resuscitaion when unwarranted medically.
