I've spent time in very dangerous places (think of the places where armed robbers are perceived as..."enterprising entrepreneurs"). Even I dont go to South Africa.

Oh she knew. If you get eaten by a lion in the middle of the Louvre, then you can say you didnt realize there was a danger from lions. If you're hiking alone in a 3rd world shithole...you know what to expect.

Had the conversation with my wife today on something unrelated, but ended with her being shocked to learn how dangerous South Africa is. Not all people know.
