People who think it's pronounced with a hard G are fucking idiots. Don't you dumb faggots know why it was originally pronounced "jif"? The pronunciation with the soft G was carefully chosen. GIF pronounced with a hard G sounds like "gift." The inventor knew this, and that's why he selected the soft G. "Jif" does not cause confusion, unless you're a fan of the peanut butter.
