I started throwing out the books friends and relatives send to my kids if they include blatant diversity. My White son needs stories about people that are like him.
Honestly, if it contains anything other than whites, just throw it out. They shouldn't be normalized to being a minority in their own country.
Little Black Sambo was the only diverse book in the 50s.
Hey, that's not true! Look at all the Tintin books! https://i.ibb.co/QcKhQV6/article-2057090-0-EA62-A5-B00000578-844-468x462.jpg
My gramma used to read me that when I was a wee lad. I wanted some tiger butter
I'm sitting in a truckstop right now waiting on a shower. 4 out of the 5 customers ive listened to make an order, couldn't speak English.
Don't know how old the kids are, but you could look into Hardy Boys/Nancy drew books. Encyclopedia brown. The Little House on the Prairie books are good as well, even for boys (just skip a chapter here or there for the boys).
The Yearling, Old Yeller, Huckleberry Finn & Tom Sawyer
I forgot about encyclopedia brown! That was my shit.
Also this: https://www.goodreads.com/series/108406-blart. Blart: The Boy Who Didn’t Want To Save The World. (Plot spoiler: he does). This is a series that any boy would enjoy reading.
Also the Tom Swift series
the English version would be "The Famous Five",
and maybe a bit more English centric, "Jennings"
/books would probably enjoy a list of any books you do find worthy. Sharing the info is helping each other find good sources.
May I suggest: Hillsdale College and School of the West.
