Not really. "Based" would be if it were done to deprive the Brazilian government of that vaccine data permanently. Rather in this case, it seems like it was just a convenient target because these new systems are obviously not well-secured at all.

If they were smart they'd create 2 competing wallets. Give back data. Release the data.. Whichever tip jar has the most money in it gets their way.

Although if they use telegram they already fucked up.

In this case, it's not so much about releasing the data as the people who are vaxxed already know that they are vaxxed. It's about giving back the data to the government that can keep track of vaccination status versus destroying the data so that the government does not know.

But the two wallet thing would be a good idea. I'd hope more people would donate to the "destroy the data" wallet but the government can put up a lot of money stolen from taxpayers, so who knows how it would play out.
