You're right about the 2% part (official numbers at least) but you can look up synagoges in pretty much every US state and find them. I just checked both Dakotas, Montana, Tennessee, Idaho, Alabama, and Montana and all of them proved my point. Not huge populations there I'm sure, but as you said it doesn't take very many to cause problems. We are infested.
