I am a "bring a gun to a knife fight" kind of guy, but if I find myself unarmed facing a knife, I will run! Run as fast as I can, I might even sound like SpongeBob, screaming the whole way. But if I can't run, its rock time!!

Rock vs. knife? Seriously? You'll probably be stabbed or cut a few times before you land a solid bash with the rock.

You have the "run away" part correct- if you're unarmed (or concealed carrying, holstered), do not engage. Get distance so you can draw your weapon or just run as fast as you can. All it takes is ONE STAB OR CUT to the right part of your body, and you're fucking dead a few minutes later.

In a scenario where you cannot flee, and are unarmed, you should try to grab something BIGGER THAN THE KNIFE. A pipe, a broom handle, anything that can potentially keep the fucker out of stabbing distance. Using a rock as a bludgeon means you must get within "stab in the guts" range. Also most disarming techniques you'll see in shit like Krav Maga do not work on real, determined attackers- they only work on a student who is participating in the demonstration.

Your best bet, unarmed and unable to flee or find a good improvised weapon, is to go "2 on 1"- both of your hands controlling the attacker's knife hand. The attacker (and you, probably) will have a sort of tunnel vision focus on the knife. So when a struggle begins over the knife, their focus will be entirely on retaining the knife- this is where headbutts and such come into play.

Do you have any articles or videos of a knife attack being stopped by a guy bashing him on the head with a rock? I'm sure it has happened, but my point is that this shouldn't be your immediate option (which should be running away or shooting the bastard).

You make some good points, when I say “pick up a rock,” I mean pick it up and throw it, pick up another and repeat. An un-hurled rock is useless. Give it some inertia and it will work wonders.

Oh, I am mistaken then- that is actually a solid option when left with no good weapons of opportunity. Most men will go down if they take a brick to the sternum with a good throw from about 10 feet away. But it's the same problem with gun vs. knife- you need distance, even more if you are throwing things. A gun can do damage from any range, but throwing something and dealing damage with it requires some distance.

Hm, I'm imagining lifting something like a cinder block up over your head and hurling it forward/downward at an oncoming knife wielder... smashed skull, broken neck or arms or ribs- could be quite effective.

Honestly, in my case, I'd rather use my bare hands than pick up a fist sized rock to use as a bludgeon. I can box reasonably well, I'm confident in my ability to punch accurately and cleanly. Not so sure I'd be as capable with a rock in my hand!

Krav Maga

why would you learn martial arts from a race of spineless, limpwristed jellyfish?

Krav Maga is nonsensical bullshit. It looks ferocious and terrifying in demonstrations.

But in those demonstrations, the "attacker" is a polite student who is playing along with the demonstration. An attacker will not simply stand still and let you break their wrist, gouge their eyes out, and bite their dick off in 2 seconds (I think that's what those kikes practice, right?).

Similar to Aikido, kung fu, systema- all of these arts look pretty, they appear effective in demonstrations. But we know they are not effective. How do we know this? MMA. MMA has revealed the bullshido all around the world. MMA fighters take the techniques that work from various martial disciplines, and ignore the bullshit. Kung fu is 99% bullshit, but there are a few techniques that work.

So what does work? Boxing, wrestling, BJJ, Muay Thai, Sambo, some karate, some Tae Kwan Do... and that's about it. Professional fighters who simulate fights to the death with other trained killers are the experts, and these are the techniques/disciplines they rely on. The early UFCs really showed how lacking various martial arts were. A great karate fighter who can kick your fucking head into orbit? Can't do shit when Royce Gracie grabs him, drags him to the ground, and strangles him with his own collar. Boxer? Can't do shit when a wrestler tackles him and starts punching him in the face. It's been about 30 years since all of this came to light, and MMA has developed since then.
